  The National Assessment Program- Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests are a series of standardized tests that are undertaken by all Australian students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9. The tests are used as an analysis and evaluation of each student’s abilities in literacy and numeracy skills through reading, language conventions, writing and numeracy

Melbourne High School (MHS) is a selective entry school, along with Mac Robertson Girls’ High School and Nossal High School. Most students enter Melbourne High in year 9 and 10 through a selection process that involves a test and an interview. The test is conducted and regulated by the Department of Education and Training (DET).
