Each year, UNSW holds independent academic assessments (which are also a competition) to test students in a range of academic areas including writing, English comprehension and mathematics. The competition spans over 20 countries including Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa and the USA.
Who Can Enter?
ICAS is available to both primary and secondary students, however not all schools participate in this competition. If you would like to enrol your child, chat to your school about whether they offer the ICAS tests.
Unlike NAPLAN, ICAS is not compulsory so even if your school does offer this, it does not mean your child must sit the exam. As the competition does span over 20 countries, the results can provide some solid insights into how your child is performing against children all over the world.
When and Where is ICAS held?
This year, ICAS test dates are:
Writing: 15th – 19th June 2015
English Comprehension: 28th July 2015
Mathematics: 11th August 2015
All ICAS tests are held at the school under strict examination conditions.
