The free assessment
What happens at the free assessment?
A short level-check with your child in the subject or subjects you're considering, then a one-on-one chat with you about what we'd recommend. Half an hour per subject, an hour if you're considering both Maths and English. No pressure, no obligation, no cost.
How do I book an assessment?
Online in under two minutes, choose your centre, then pick an upcoming day and time that suits your family. Prefer to talk it through first? Call us on 0490 213 089 and we'll arrange it with you.
Does my child need to prepare for the assessment?
No, and please don't. The assessment works best when it shows us how your child genuinely works: where they're confident, where they hesitate, and how they think through something unfamiliar. It's short, friendly, and doesn't feel like a test.
Do I stay during the assessment?
You're welcome to stay in the centre. Your child works with an educator while you wait, and then we sit down with you one-on-one to talk through what the assessment showed and how we'd build the right programme for your child.
What if the assessment shows my child doesn't need tutoring?
Then we'll tell you exactly that. An honest recommendation is the whole point, some families leave with reassurance and a few suggestions for home, and come back a year later when things change. No pressure, ever.
Classes & the programme
How does the personalised programme work?
We design your child's programme from the assessment, pitched at their ability, not just their year level, and aligned to the Victorian and Australian curricula. Foundations are rebuilt where there are gaps, with extension where they're ready for more. It's reviewed and adjusted every term as they grow.
How is this different from how school teaches?
School teaches to the year level; Lynn's teaches to your child. We follow the same Victorian and Australian curricula, but your child's programme is pitched precisely where they need to grow next, sometimes ahead of class, sometimes behind, sometimes approaching the same topic from a different angle.
How long is each class?
Each subject runs as a one-hour weekly session. If your child does both Maths and English, that can be two back-to-back sessions on the same day (for example 4–6pm or 5–7pm), or one session each on two different days, whatever suits your family.
When do classes run?
Centres run during school terms, in one-hour sessions, typically three per day (for example 4–5pm, 5–6pm and 6–7pm). Different centres operate on different days; check your centre's page for its days and times.
How much homework is there?
Students complete homework a few days of the week at home, in addition to their weekly class, and the load can be adjusted to suit your child. Most students take about 10 minutes per day per subject, and our standard volume is four homework booklets per subject per week. The homework builds on material they've already been taught and practised in class, and we mark it for the students to work through in the following session.
Do you mark the homework yourselves?
Yes, we mark it all ourselves, so you never need to mark anything at home. A blank answer teaches us nothing; an honest attempt shows us how your child is thinking so we can explain the right approach in a way that lands.
Do you tutor online?
No, Lynn's is in-centre only. Real classrooms with real educators get better outcomes than screens, especially for younger learners and selective preparation, where the work needs structure, supervision and one-on-one help when something's not landing.
How quickly will I see results?
Many parents notice a change within the first two weeks: calmer homework time, growing concentration, the quiet confidence of “I tried.” Considerable academic progress usually shows in the first two months, and many long-term students go on to complete work well above their year level.
Subjects & year levels
What subjects do you offer?
Maths and English from Foundation to Year 10, plus a Selective & Scholarship programme for Years 3 to 9.
What year levels do you teach?
Foundation to Year 10 across Maths and English. Selective and scholarship coaching runs from Years 3 to 9.

Focused preparation for selective-entry and scholarship tests, for Years 3 to 9, up to three hours of class time a week plus practice tests, at $120 per week (plus the one-off $40 enrolment fee).
Fees & payments
How much does it cost?
A one-off $40 enrolment fee covers your child's personalised programme design and welcome pack. Then it's $40 per subject per week, class time, all worksheets, weekly homework and all marking included. The Selective & Scholarship programme is $120 per week with up to three hours of class time and practice tests.
What's included in the weekly fee?
Everything: class time, all worksheets, weekly homework and all marking. The $40 per subject per week is all-inclusive, no extra charges for materials or marking. (There's a one-off $40 enrolment fee per child when you start, and optional holiday homework is an extra $18 per week only if you choose it.)
How do payments work, and can I pause or cancel?
Fees are paid weekly, set up with your centre manager when you enrol. For family holidays or longer breaks we ask for 14 days' written notice and can pause payments accordingly.
Centres & practical questions
Where are your centres?
We have six centres across Victoria, Berwick, Hampton Park, Endeavour Hills, Glen Waverley, Wantirna South and Wyndham Vale. Each runs the same personalised programme; see the locations page for each centre's days, times and venue.
What if my child misses a class?
For a single missed class, contact your centre manager to arrange a make-up. For longer absences like family holidays, we ask for 14 days' written notice and can pause payments accordingly.
Do classes run during the school holidays?
No, centres run during Victorian school terms and close for the holidays. We'll always let you know term dates and any closures in advance.
